Concurs social d’idees destinat a l’alumnat d’escoles i universitats de disseny industrial i d’enginyeria tècnica industrial per donar un nou ús a les armilles salvavides, de llanxes pneumàtiques (dinguis), roba i altres materials que s’acumulen a l’illa de Lesbos (Grècia), organitzat per l’Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona.

Many refugees are living in camps since more than 10 years now. Many camps dont have running water, people are living in closet spaces together. The risk of infection is high, the resources are low. How can refugees protect themselves better? How can their camp be more sustainable, less littered by plastic? How can it be profitable for the whole community 

Pandemic —> Quarantine of consumption —> selfsuf – ficiency & mindfulness —> slowing down —> better environment —> chinese exports halt —> local indus – tries —> local activities —> people based initiatives —> cottage industries —> „the Age of the Amateur“ —> DIY aesthetic -> manual labour cherished above all 

Instead of continuous first aid, the refugees are now provided with tools for self aid & development to become self-sufficient in a long term perspective.

The KAH project  is based on an imagined future scenario. The following information will clarify doubts about its origin, the future scenario itself and the credibility of the set trend forecast for the following project.

The main goals are:

1. EXPLORE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR REFUGEES TO CREATE THEIR OWN HYGENIC PROTECTIVE WEARABLES. 
2. IMPROVE LIFE AND HEALTH CONDITIONS IN REFUGEE CAMPS. 
3. PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS AS A BASE FOR INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT SECURING A PROFITABLE BUT SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.

After many tests, an element composition was achieved that allowed the generation of a material capable of being molded and flexible.
